Red Wagon Brigade

More than 200 ABM Franchising Group franchise owners, their families and ABM employees came together on March 28, 2019, to build and decorate red wagons, stuffed full of toys, for children at a local Boys and Girls Club of America in Fort Lauderdale, FL.

During the event, participants were divided into teams to build and decorate the red wagons. Once the teams finished building and decorating the wagons, the teams participated in several fun challenges to win brand new toys to fill their wagons.

The "Red Wagon Brigade" event was held exclusively for ABM Franchising Group, during its annual franchise owners' meeting. ABM Franchising Group offers two franchise brands, Linc Service and TEGG, which deliver comprehensive mechanical and electrical service and preventive maintenance solutions to commercial and industrial buildings in over 15 countries. ABM Franchising Group is an operating unit of ABM Industries, a leading provider of integrated facility solutions.

"The level of excitement of a child receiving a new toy is truly amazing, but knowing we are giving one to a child who has never received a new toy – or any toy at all, for that matter – is an unparalleled feeling," said Bruce Phibbs, Senior Vice President of ABM Franchising Group. "This was a fun event to participate in, and what makes it even more special is knowing these toys and wagons are going to bring joy to children and families who are in need."

The Boys and Girls Club of America focuses on helping millions of children and teenagers build great futures by providing them with a safe place to learn, play and grow with supportive relationships and mentors. It also provides enrichment programs, experiences and activities focused on providing safer childhoods, equity and inclusion, education and career readiness, and health and wellness programming.

The event and materials were supplied by Wildly Different, which provides corporate team building activities. ABM Franchising Group requested Wildly Different provide an activity that could be tied to a charitable cause.

Each year, ABM Franchising Group hosts a charitable event during the Principals Meeting.

During the event, Martin Keyser, ABM Franchising Group's Senior Vice President of Franchise Operations, worked on building and decorating a wagon, then stuffing it with toys. He said the Red Wagon Brigade and past charitable events are the highlight of the annual meeting.

"These charitable events are always the most personally rewarding aspect to the attendees of our Principals Meeting," Keyser said.
