ABM to Provide Minimum Expected Savings of $4.9 Million for Perrysburg, OH Schools

ABM (NYSE:ABM), a leading provider of facility solutions, announced its ABM Building Solutions business has been selected by Perrysburg Exempted Village School District in Perrysburg, Ohio to implement district-wide, comprehensive infrastructure improvements through ABM’s Bundled Energy Solutions program. The customized solution developed by ABM will provide energy efficient upgrades and facility enhancements to each of the six schools within the district. The project, which began in October 2013, was completed earlier this month and provides Perrysburg with minimum expected savings of $4.9 million in energy and operating costs over a 15-year period.

 

ABM’s Bundled Energy Solutions Program is designed as a financial solution to meet clients’ technical facility needs and sustainability goals. For ABM, the goal is to drive costs out of a client’s operating budget, allowing savings to be reallocated to fund mission critical facility needs.

 

Having received an ‘Excellent Rating’ on the Ohio State Report Card for the last 12 years, Perrysburg Exempted Village School District has a tremendous reputation across Ohio.  Earlier this year, in need of critical infrastructure improvements across the district’s schools, Perrysburg turned to ABM to assist with the utilization of Ohio HB264, the state’s energy conservation program.  Ohio HB264 allows school districts’ to make energy efficiency improvements to their facilities and use the cost savings to pay for those improvements.

 

“The driving force behind this project was creating a strategy to meet key facility needs without increasing taxpayer burden,” explained Aura Norris, SPHR, Executive Director of Human Resources and Operations for Perrysburg Schools. “ABM’s expertise with budget neutral solutions for other schools was a big factor in our decision making process, and we’re very pleased with their solution to relocate existing boilers in good working order, which has created additional savings.”

 

The school district has a maintenance agreement with local mechanical service contractor Campbell, Inc., a franchise of ABM Franchising Group. Campbell, Inc. teamed up with the local ABM location to provide facility improvements to the school district’s six schools, administration, maintenance and transportation buildings. The upgrades include installing building envelope improvements, lighting enhancements, occupancy sensors, HVAC equipment and chiller retrocommissioning, control upgrades and water conservation methods. Local plumbing company, Maumee Plumbing & Heating Supply, provided water conservation materials for the project. In addition, existing boilers with low operating hours were moved from Frank Elementary and Perrysburg Junior High to Ft. Meigs Elementary and Toth Elementary.
