Third-Generation Family Business Credits Longevity, Success to a Dedication to Quality and Efficiency
Bassett Mechanical, which started as a small, family-owned refrigeration company, is celebrating its 80th anniversary of serving Wisconsin.
The company, which is headquartered in Kaukauna, Wis., has offices in Milwaukee and Madison, and has always been family-operated.
In 1936, Al Bassett founded Bassett Refrigeration Company, which worked to install refrigeration systems on ships during World War II.
In the 1940s, the company began working in refrigeration and HVAC, and eventually the company added engineers and a sheet metal department to meet customers’ growing HVAC and ventilation demands.
In 1974, Al’s nephew, Bill Bassett, became the company’s CEO. The company continued experiencing steady growth throughout the 1970s and 1980s. The company joined Linc Service in 1986.
Bill Bassett was preceded by his daughter, current CEO and President Kim Bassett, who took over the role in 2009. Bill remains active in the company, serving as its chairman of the board.
Bassett Mechanical currently serves three Linc Service franchise regions in Wisconsin – Appleton, Madison and Milwaukee – and employs about 350 people.
Recently Kim Bassett spoke with Wisconsin-based business publication Insight, and credited the company’s dedication to quality and efficiency as the reason for its longevity and success.
She also reflected on listening to her father and uncle discussing the company at family dinners.
“They were constantly strategizing and not necessarily talking about any individual by name, but how they could do things better, serve the customer better,” she told Insight in its September, 2016, edition. “Today, I have a passion for what I do and I’m thankful that the stage was set for a positive experience.”
Linc Service is proud to congratulate Bassett Mechanical on its 80 years in business!
